Multi-Talk Events

Weekend Retreats (3 to 4 talks) or One-day Events (2 to 3 talks):

Following God One Yes at a Time*
Based on the Bible and my book of the same title, I share the simplest, yet most doable way to walk with God. You will learn that God has dreams for your life, some of which seem impossible to achieve. You will discover how to follow God: one simple, immediate, possible yes at a time. You will learn to recognize proofs – called “chocolates on your trail” – sent by God to reassure you when you’re on the right track. And you will be challenged to deal with the biggest barriers to following God: those that are inside your own skin.

Simply Better
More and more we live in a complex, chaotic world. The array of choices we have in the supermarket alone is dizzying. We are bombarded with messages that tell us to measure our success, effectiveness and worth with our financial portfolio, professional status, and toys. Our garages are too packed to park in. Our basements need more storage. Our cupboards are crammed. Our calendar is full. We don’t get enough sleep. Our meals are rushed. And we’re not happy!

This retreat will point you toward godliness, balance, peace, sanity and soul satisfaction. You will leave with scriptures, strategies, insights and ideas for real change and you will have fun doing it! No guilt trips, no judgment, just help and hope.

Hope for the Rest of Us*
Based on the Bible and my book
From Faking it to Finding Grace, I expose the often hidden and seldom talked about reality of spiritual dryness in Christianity today. At this event you will learn why people shy away from God and drift into dryness. You will discover that when you drift away from Him, He isn’t mad at you! In fact, He never stops pursuing you and calling you back. You will hear that God wants to involve you in His work right now no matter how far from Him you think you are. And finally, you will see that the way “back” to God is “forward” in faith – a new and workable faith that won’t get “rocked” by the harsh realities of your challenging life.

The starred two topics above can be presented as one event.

What’s so Spiritual About Your Gifts?

What does the Bible say spiritual gifts are? And what are they not? You will discover or affirm your unique set of gifts and explore opportunities for exercising your gifts in community. Best of all, you will learn what is the greatest spiritual gift…and you’ll laugh a lot!

This event has a workshop-py feel because some of the time is spent working through questions to uncover your hidden gifts and to validate what the Holy Spirit, your intuition, and best friends have been telling you all along.

Following God One Yes at a Time
Faith does not have to be complicated. Based on the Bible and my book of the same title, I share the simplest, most doable way to walk with God. As with all my talks, there is a large humor component.

Hope for the Rest of Us
Based on the Bible and my book
From Faking it to Finding Grace, I expose the often hidden, very pervasive, yet seldom talked about reality of spiritual dryness in Christianity today. You will be comforted, encouraged and hopeful – laughs guaranteed!

Simply Better: life with an uncluttered soul
We are bombarded with messages that tell us to measure our success, effectiveness and worth with our bank balance, status, and toys. Our garages are too packed to park in. Our basements need more storage. Our cupboards are crammed. Our calendar is full. We don’t get enough sleep. Our meals are rushed. But we’re not happy. This talk will point you toward godliness, balance, peace, sanity and soul satisfaction. No guilt trips, no judgment, just help and hope.

Winning over Worry
Most of us worry. Some of us worry enough for the rest of us who don’t! What do we worry about? The things we care about: kids, marriage, job, money, time, health and more. We think worry = caring. Wrong! Caring leads to action; worry leads to anxiety. Anxiety fuels all kinds of problems emotionally, physically and spiritually. What can we do about worry? Paul gives us two actions that have the power to break the worry habit and give us the peace we so desperately seek. You will laugh your head off as you learn to tackle worry and win!

Workshops

What I Need to Know to Start Public Speaking
Everywhere I go, women take me aside and ask, “How can I do what you do? The simple answer is “just do it.” But the simple answer doesn’t tell people where to start or what they need to consider so they can move forward. In this one-hour workshop you will answer some simple questions that will help you determine if public speaking is for you. I will show you what to do to get started. And you will go home with some resources that will direct you toward further training.

What I Need to Know to Become a Writer

Have you ever read a book and thought, “I could write better than that!” Many unpublished writers think that way and some of them are right. Some people secretly nurture the dream of “being a writer someday” but unless you were born into a writing or publishing dynasty you don’t have the foggiest notion of where to begin. You don’t even know how to find out if you are a good enough writer to get published. This one-hour workshop will give a basic overview of what’s involved in writing for publication. You will find out how to get started and where to go for help.

Basic Strategies for Organizing Your Home

Some of us are naturally organized. We never lose our keys and we always know where to find what we need. And then some of us are “sorta” organized. We know where things are…mostly! But we might need a little more time to get our hands on what we need. And then some of us are literally drowning in clutter. We’re not hoarders but we know we need to “downsize and organize.” We just don’t know where to begin! Regardless of where you fit in on the Mrs. Clean to Ms. Messy continuum, this workshop has practical takeaway value for you. Connie will share tips from professional organizers and will give time for Q&A so we can CrowdSource and learn from each other.

Your Topics

Option A: You have an idea but need a speaker

What does your planning team believe your people need most at your upcoming event? Perhaps you have a topic or theme and/or a passage of Scripture that really speaks to where you are and you need a speaker you can trust to be biblical, relevant and funny. I am often asked to bring a message or craft a retreat based on special requests from event planners.

Option B: You have an event with multiple speakers

Another possibility is when I share the podium with other speakers at an event with an overarching theme (leadership, women’s issues, worldviews, etc). You can be sure that I will bring a timely scriptural message, I will adhere to the allotted time, and I will use humour wherever it is appropriate.
